In December 2016 we kicked off a New Year's portfolio challenge for our community. We partnered up with .design domains, and gave away more than 500 free .design domain names to Hacking UI readers. The brief was simply to do a portfolio re-design, while keeping it simple and focusing on presenting the work in a proper way.

As a Twitter user, I've grown frustrated with its interface. As a product designer, I thought it would be an interesting exercise to see how I could improve it. And since Twitter seems to struggle with new users, it was only relevant to redesign with them...

Huge Shadows This trend kind of assumes that your design is lit with a GIANT soft box, which is pretty silly to think about. For one thing, everyone knows you should at least use three-point lighting system. But son of a mustache if I don't love seeing a gentle, velvety shadow blanketing itself across my design.
